Riders tear it up at Edenhope
Round two of the senior Victorian Motocross Championships saw two fantastic days of racing at Edenhope Motorcycling Club on May 16 and 17.
Despite more than 15 millimetres of rain having fallen across the weekend, club president Paul Colgate said the championships were a success, crediting the work of volunteers.
“It all went pretty smoothly,” Colgate said.
“Everyone, including the Motorcycling Victoria staff, were really good and we managed to get everything done over the two days.
“We had lots of volunteers, including members of the Edenhope Aspley Football Netball Club flag marshalling for us on the Sunday, which was great.”
The Edenhope Motorcycling Club president said Saturday presented ideal racing conditions but Sunday posed a greater challenge for the riders.
“The track was awesome on Saturday apart from the skittish showers which made it go a bit slippery,” Colgate said.
“We prepped the track again on Saturday night, but with 12 millimetres of rain overnight, it soaked and the track got a bit sloppy.
“It poses a different challenge for the riders; some blokes are specialists in the mud and some blokes just hate it.”
Among the results, Goroke’s Joel Lowe won one of the three races in the MX1 B class before finishing third overall behind winner Zandar Goiker.

- MX3: Jobe Dunne
- vets' expert: Raymond Cole
- ladies' expert: Emma Milesevic
Motocross action returns to the region on Saturday May 30 when Horsham Motorcycle Club hosts round three of the Peter Stevens Victorian junior titles.
