Roadworks set to reshape busy Western Highway intersection
Major roadwork will be undertaken at the Horsham intersection of Henty and Western highways, and Golf Course and Plumpton roads.

Transport Victoria announced the upgrade, citing improvements to safety and traffic flow.
Preconstruction works are expected to begin in July and continue until September 2025, with traffic disruptions in the longer timeframe to be confirmed by Transport Victoria when the construction program is complete.
“Preconstruction works, including the relocation of essential services, will ensure that our crews can hit the ground running later this year, " said Michael Bailey, Executive Director, Barwon South West and Grampians, Department of Transport and Planning.
“We'll continue to keep the community informed about when they can expect to see major construction get started, along with any disruptions that work might cause," he said.
The construction program will also involve traffic management, and motorists are advised to exercise caution and observe the changing signage.
This stage will involve earthworks, pavement, kerb and channel construction, and relighting of local roads to provide safer approach angles.
A shared path to provide a safety crossing for pedestrians and cyclists will be constructed at this stage of the project, along with a dedicated slip lane for southbound traffic on the Western Highway.
After the initial work has been completed, asphalt paving, line marking, public lighting, and landscaping will be installed.
The primary reason for the upgrade is to enhance public safety through reduced risk of traffic crashes and improved access and traffic flow, including that of pedestrians and cyclists.
It is also expected to improve travel times and freight efficiency.
A statement issued by Transport Victoria stated, "The intersection of the Henty Highway, Western Highway, Golf Course Road and Plumpton Road is one of Horsham’s key entrance points and caters for 18,000 vehicles per day, with 18 per cent of the volume heavy vehicles.
"Between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2023, there were 12 crashes at or near this intersection, with six resulting in serious injuries.
"The Western and Henty Highways are relied on heavily by farming industry, grain production, regional tourism, and manufacturing services. Golf Course Road and Plumpton Road service an industrial zone and are used heavily by freight.
"With traffic flow anticipated to increase due to population and industry growth in the region, we are constructing a new roundabout to simplify the intersection and improve safety and efficiency for all road users," it said.
