Rotary raffle for The Wesley
The Rotary Club of Horsham East is once again raising money for local causes, with all funds from this year's raffle and art fair going toward the upkeep of the Wesley Performing Arts Centre.
The Rotary Club of Horsham East is once again raising money for local causes, with all funds from this year's raffle and art fair going toward the upkeep of the Wesley Performing Arts Centre.
“We try and pick a cause each year for our raffle and our art show, and any money we make out of it will go into the Wesley this year,” Rotarian Steve Holmes said.
The Wesley Performing Arts Centre closed its doors in December 2017 due to safety non-compliance issues, and has since established a fundraising campaign to reopen the facility.
Mr Holmes said the Rotary Club of Horsham East has, on average over the last two or three years, raised between $7000 and $8000 for local institutions through selling raffle tickets and the art fair.
“If it's consistent with that, depending on how tight finances are for everyone, if they want, they can buy paintings at the art show… and this raffle, whatever we can make out of that, it’ll be good too," he said.
“We’ve got donors who’ll donate prizes to us, so that makes it easy to make a profit when people are donating the raffle prizes.”
Up for grabs at the raffle for 1st prize is the choice of a gift voucher to Macchia Jewellery or a children’s Case IH 12-volt Magnum tractor and trailer ride-on, both valued at $1000.
Second and third prizes are an Ultimate Power & Travel Tech Pack valued at $310, and a Philips Airfryer 2000 series 4.2L valued at $150, both from Harvey Norman.
In previous years, funds from the Rotary Club of Horsham East’s raffle and art show fundraiser have supported the Wimmera Cancer Centre and Wimmera Health Rotary House, contributing to new treatment chairs and garden upkeep, respectively.
Raffle tickets are available for purchase around noon at the Horsham Plaza at the east entrance on select days until October 7.
The Art Fair will be held at the Horsham Town Hall from Wednesday, October 7, to Sunday, October 11.
