Saints junior player airlifted to hospital
A Horsham Saints junior footballer is receiving care at The Royal Melbourne Hospital after suffering a head knock during an under 17s game against Southern Mallee Thunder at Jeparit on Saturday.

After managing to walk off the field following the incident, the young player received medical treatment for up to 90 minutes before an ambulance arrived and transported him to Horsham, where he was then airlifted to Melbourne.
Saints president Sally Ison confirmed on Saturday night that the player has full feeling back, praising the efforts of volunteers and ambulance staff.
“(Our under 17s player) is in the Royal Melbourne and now alert and has full feeling back,” she said.
“His mum has advised he is being looked after extremely well.
“I would like to express the utmost gratitude to our volunteer medical people, the paramedics and MICA guys who were top notch.
“You are all amazing human beings and we are so grateful for your assistance from both the Thunder and Saints.
“It shows in the country it doesn’t matter which side you are on, you jump in and help without hesitation.”
Ambulance Victoria confirmed that a specialist Air Ambulance Victoria helicopter crew, a Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) and two Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic road crews attended the scene.
In a statement, the Wimmera Football Netball League said they would offer support to both clubs, also acknowledging the work of volunteers and Ambulance Victoria.
“The Wimmera Football Netball League has been made aware of an incident in the U17s game today at Jeparit between Southern Mallee Thunder and Horsham Saints,” Deputy Chairman Bart Turgoose said.
“Our thoughts are with the U17s player, and his family and friends, who have been impacted by this.
“The Wimmera Football Netball League is thankful for all of the volunteers, off-duty doctors, and Ambulance Victoria members from both clubs who assisted.
“The League will continue to support the clubs affected and assist where we can to ensure everyone is supported through this time.”
