Senior Pastor Lisa Woods has tendered her resignation with Warracknabeal's Wheatlands District Church.

Giving the church her 12-month notice, the senior pastor said she wanted to do something different and focus on her children.

"I gave my notice so it didn't come as a shock to the church," she said.

Seventeen years ago, Ps Woods began as a youth pastor and transitioned into her current position after the church had a sudden departure of its pastor.

"The church was looking for someone to take over, and I was acting senior pastor for a while," she said.

"I felt like I was able to do so."

After 12 years in the position, Ps Woods has decided it's time to move on.

"There are a lot of mixed emotions leaving the church," she said.

"It will be good for the church to get fresh leadership.

"I've been there for half the life of the church, and the average tenure is five years."

Primarily focusing on her four children aged nine, seven, five and two, alongside her husband Dion, they are seeing what the future holds.

"We're not leaving the region entirely yet," she said.

"I'm not in a hurry to leave, and everyone is happy.

"I think the church is now in a healthy position to transition to a new leader."

If anyone is interested in this position, they are encouraged to contact Wheatlands District Church.
