WFNL 2026 preview: Spicer hoping to help Eagles take flight
Sarah Spicer, a former Eagles player, will again lead the A grade netball side at Warrack in the 2026 season.
She's done her time on court, having played netball since 11 and played for 25 years between the Eagles and the Lions, both teams from Warracknabeal.
Spicer has also played netball on the representative stage for both the Wimmera and Wimmera Mallee leagues.
But her talent hasn't been just confined to the court – she is also a dedicated and longstanding coach, having coached juniors, A and B grade over the years, all for Warrack.
In laughingly describing herself as "boring", Spicer says she's been a long-time contributor to the club in administration and as an umpire as well.
Last season the Eagles finished sixth with 11 losses, five wins and a draw.
Importantly, Spicer said, there was improvement in the side throughout the season.
"It felt we were gaining more momentum the longer the year went," she said.
"I'm hoping we can continue to build on that this coming season."
Spicer acknowledged they were a side that was younger and their experience from last year was only going to hold them in better stead.
But she said they would also need to focus this season on consistency.
"We need to be able to play a consistent four quarters and be able to challenge the stronger teams," Spicer said.
She said she was hoping this would be enabled further by the return of numerous former players to the side.
