The spirit of giving was evident across the Wimmera on Good Friday, with local towns donating over $150,000 to the The Royal Children's Hospital annual appeal.

Horsham topped the list locally, and finished 12th in regional towns across the state, raising $73,188 on the night, while Stawell ($35,146), Warracknabeal ($29,993), Beaufort ($14,890), Dimboola ($11,607) and Rainbow ($9163) all contributed strongly.

Fundraising across the district this year outperformed last year's total of $154,245, and this year locals had the extra incentive that donations would benefit the community, with some of the funding pledged to Grampians Health.

Grampians Health has identified the need for new anaesthesia, resuscitation and ultrasound equipment to provide care for babies and females with high-risk needs.

Since 1931, more than $468 million has been raised for The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.

It has assisted in funding care and education programs, equipment and technology and research.
