On Saturday January 6, the venue will playing host to the V8 powered methanol munching things wings as the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria head the marque with the eighth round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series.

The opening five rounds run to date have produced some stellar racing performances with Bendigo’s Rusty Hickman claiming the opening round, reigning Australian Champion Jock Goodyer taking the honours in the second, fellow Tasmanian Tate Frost banking the points in round three and Jamie Veal showed the fast way home in round four, sadly the fifth round was rained out.

Over the Christmas period rounds 6 and 7 will be contested at the Avalon Raceway and the Portland Speedway before the highly anticipated series arrives in Horsham.

As the series approaches the halfway mark, Bobby Daly currently leads with 1447 points, showing that consistency is the key to banking vital points.

South Australian Daniel Pestka holds down second with 1299 and Terry Rankin with 1174 holds a slender 8 point margin over Jamie Veal in fifth with 1166 while Glen Southerland, Tate Frost, Chad Ely, Brock Hallett, Marcus Green and Dane Court round out the top ten.

Although no official nominations have been released, Pre-Christmas (at time of writing) it is believed that the majority of these runners will be in attendance as they continue to chase the championship up for grabs.

Supporting the Sprintcars will be the always popular V8 Trucks, last time out Nathan Bird claimed a thrilling victory over Luke James and rounding the podium was Jaryd Carman.

The Production Sedans are also expected to continue to thrill, Peter Dowling led John Calderwood and Colby Hammond for the podium.

The Limited Sportsmans and SSA 1200 Juniors will be making their season debut, and all
drivers will be keen to start their track championship in the best way possible as they aim to win on what will truly be a night to excite!

Gates open 4pm, racing from 5pm and we look forward to seeing you there!
