Staff walking for mental health
Grampians Health staff get moving with a mental health fundraiser.

Staff members of Grampians Health recently laced up their runners and got active for Mental Health Week 2022.
Held from October 10 to 17, Mental Health Week looks to raise awareness of mental health services and resources available to the community as well as look after the wellbeing of participants through a series of activities.
Grampians Health staff at all campuses were encouraged to take a 10 minute walk on Wednesday to see how far the team could collectively walk from Ballarat to Edenhope via Stawell, Horsham and Dimboola.
Staff were also encouraged to support the Ballarat Mental Health Collective’s Brighten Up Day initiative by wearing colourful clothing on the day.
Kindness walls have been on display throughout the week in tearooms, encouraging staff to help another colleague, thank a colleague or introduce themselves to a team member they don’t know.
In addition, a banner was painted by Lived Experience staff and consumers of Grampians Mental Health and Wellbeing Service to help celebrate Mental Health Week.

Acting mental health operations director Tina Winzar said looking after your mental health had never been more important after living and working with COVID over the past two and a half years.
“We have introduced a series of activities as we know that being kind and helping someone, taking some time out for your own self-care by going for a walk, or engaging with others in a shared activity can reduce stress levels, boost your mood, create a positive atmosphere and brighten yours and someone else’s day,” she said.
“Once again this year, we are really pleased to support the Ballarat Mental Health Collective’s Brighten Up initiative as it’s a great way to lift the spirits of the community, while at the same time start a conversation about mental health.”
