Swifts claim hard-fought win over Taylors Lake
Swifts' A grade secured a 44-39 win over Taylors Lake in round three of the Horsham District Football Netball League on Saturday at Dock Lake Recreation Reserve.

Although the Swifts came away with the victory, coach Amy Kenny described the performance as less than ideal.
“Excited about the win but it was not a great performance,” Kenny said.
A strong start and impressive shooting accuracy were credited with keeping the Swifts in the game.
“Emily Hanns in the goal defence was amazing on the day as her read of the ball was great,” Kenny said.
“She's a versatile player who also plays in the midfield.”
The team’s ball movement was highlighted as a key strength, though Kenny acknowledged Taylors Lake’s ability to read the ball well.
“Patience and control are what helped us come out on top,” she said.
The coach praised Emily Hanns, Kathryn Boag and the team’s goalies as the best players of the match.
“Taylors Lake is very good at the centre but our captain, Kathryn Boag, outplayed them,” she said..
Looking ahead, Kenny said the Swifts planned to focus on refining their attack during training sessions.
“We'll regroup on Tuesday and focus more on attacking this week during practice,” Kenny said.
“We'll continue to play game by game and will see where we need improvement.”
Assistant coach Kristy Dodds also reflected positively on the team’s performance, noting their exceptional goal accuracy.
“Goal accuracy was the highlight of the game as we missed only five goals throughout the game,” Dodds said.
Confidence within the group was also high, she said.
“The team’s morale is high, the girls are confident and they have confidence in one another,” Dodds said.
