The 2023 Dimboola Art Inc Annual General Meeting was held last Thursday in the Bim Reid Room at the Victoria Hotel, where the committee shared a meal before diving into discussions.
This was a special occasion to celebrate three years of very intensive on-going construction at Tower Park, which also required further fundraising to raise a additional $100,000 to add to the initial PMP funding of $200,000.
The $200,000 was never going to be enough, and they felt it was important to celebrate what they have achieved with the near completion of Tower Park, which was officially opened on March 11 of this year.
Tower Park is now roughly 95 per cent complete.
President Angela Walker welcomed all, thanked everyone for coming on the night, and for being part of the group.
Jo Donnellythen presented the financial report, and the office bearers' positions were open for election.
There were no nominations for the positions of president, vice president or secretary, and Jo Donnelly was re-elected as treasurer
Committee elected were: Tom Fax, Al Griffiths, Amanda Ingeme, Deb Moar, Nicko, Meran Pilmore, Stoph Pilmore, Chan Uoy and Angela Walker.
Tracey Rigney and Lou Simpson were also nominated, subject to their acceptance.
Jo Donnelly will be the principal contact person, and acting-president of the new committee, which will be taking a step back and "hibernating" for a time.
No meetings will be held until the 2024 AGM, and all communication will be via email.
The committee will be focusing on the completion of the six outstanding projects, and the recently-formed Dimboola Progress has offered to assist with this.
This means that Dimboola Art Inc can now return to being the art-focused group it was when it was first formed in 2013, when a group of artists wanted to run an Art Show on November 10 2013.
The committee warmly invites anyone who would like to join and be involved in any way to contact them.
Purchasing the Tower Park site was also discussed at the AGM, with a number of different options on the table to be explored.
The status of the six projects remaining to complete Tower Park were all discussed at the General Committee Meeting, which followed the AGM:
1.Round three pavers order forms were transferred to the company-supplied speadsheet, which was proof read three times, and submitted to Design A Brick Sales.
The proofs were received back and checked - all were good - and payment was approved.
Our pavers have been made and will arrive late this week or early next week.
They will definitely be laid this year!
2.Interpretative signage to be paid for by two grants: $2500 from the Murra Warra Wind Farm and $2500 from the federal government's Department of Science and Technology.
This is in the hands of our selected graphic designers, Pink Lake Creative, with the first half of the project needing to be completed by the end of December 2023 as part of the funding completion report process.
3.The sculpture as part of the Lloyd Street fenceis in the early design phase.
Tom hopes to get much further into this once harvest is over.
4.We have an original piece of the Dimboola Hotel tower which will be added somewhere at the rear.
5.More seatinghas been obtained and will be added soon.
6.Maintenance decision:as Tower Park is on private property, it is not cleaned or maintained by the Shire or anyone else.
Please assist by not leaving any rubbish, and feel free to help pull weeds out of the gardens and lawns.
Maybe a small group of volunteers could be formed to take on some or parts of these tasks.
