Vaughan to show art work
'Wimmera - My Story' is the title of an art exhibition planned for Horsham Regional Art Gallery by former Warracknabeal-district farmer Gary Vaughan.

Mr Vaughan, now of Bendigo, has a Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours degree amongst his art studies achievements. His awards include a Melbourne Etching Supplies Award for works on paper and an Executive Dean's Award for Academic Excellence.
The exhibition, which will include about 20 of Mr Vaughan's artworks, runs from December 7 to February 23.
"This is the gallery where I would most like to have my work represented and viewed by others who also feel a sense of connection to this area," he said.
Mr Vaughan, who formerly farmed at Lah, north of Warracknabeal, bases his watercolour artworks on Wimmera scenes. They cover connection to the past, family and the land, and have a background theme of farmer-turned-artist.
"Whenever I return to the Wimmera," he said, "the artist in me feels the need to paint this beautiful place."
Mr Vaughan created the watercolour paintings over three years. Trees, the Yarriambiack Creek, fences, views of Mt Arapiles, rocks and animals are prominent as well as human impact on the landscape.
"When I exhibit my art, my greatest hope is to forge a deep connection between viewers and these cherished places," he said. "I aspire for them to see beyond the surface—to sense the profound history, emotions and beauty that define the Wimmera.
"My paintings serve as a conduit for sharing this profound connection with anyone who pauses to observe and feel."
