Vennings to Unveil New Remote-Controlled Auger at Mallee Machinery Field Days

The new system allows the operator to remotely drive, steer and position the auger from a safe distance, making it easier to accurately line up the auger with silos, trucks and field bins.
The revised design is simpler to operate and easier to retrofit to existing compatible Vennings self-propelled augers.
The remote-controlled auger will be displayed publicly for the first time at the field days, with Richard and Andrew Venning looking forward to welcoming visitors to the Vennings display.
“The new remote-control system allows the operator to stand in a position where they have a clear view of both the auger and the silo or bin,” Andrew Venning said.
“This makes it much easier to move the auger into position and line it up accurately, particularly when working in tight yards or around large on-farm storage facilities.”
Vennings has also continued to develop longer, larger-capacity augers to meet the changing requirements of Australian farmers.
“We have needed to develop longer and faster augers to service the taller silos now commonly being used for on-farm grain storage,” Andrew said.
Vennings can supply its larger augers with a choice of powerful Yanmar water-cooled diesel engines, including a three-cylinder 36 horsepower, four-cylinder 48 horsepower or 56 horsepower turbocharged engine.
These diesel engine options are available across the company’s 50-foot, 60-foot and 70-foot auger range and have been developed to efficiently move heavy commodities through long, large-diameter augers at faster rates.
Vanguard petrol engines by Briggs & Stratton also remain available, including the 40 horsepower EFI Vanguard.
The larger augers feature heavier top and bottom frames, along with a reinforced support track to handle the additional length, weight and capacity.
They also include a redesigned engine cradle with an electric actuator that lowers the engine to tension the belt drive and allows for adjustment as the belts stretch over time.
All Vennings self-propelled augers use a mechanical flight drive, with hydraulics controlling the steering, lifting and self-propelled functions.
“Our self-propelled augers are designed to make operation easier and reduce the physical effort required to move and position an auger,” Andrew said.
“It is as simple as sitting on the seat and driving the auger around the paddock or yard.
"With the addition of the remote-control system, the operator now has another convenient way to accurately position the machine.”
Standard equipment includes a fire extinguisher, steel hopper, tow hitch, two work lights and a banded belt-drive system, which provides approximately 25 per cent greater transmission efficiency than conventional single V-belts.
Safety equipment on augers 42 feet and longer includes an oversize sign and flags.
Transport is also made easier with an electric-braked axle and large Sunraysia-style wheels, allowing the augers to be legally towed at the applicable sign-posted speed limit, subject to road and towing conditions.
Vennings will also have a 31,000-litre dual axle Cestari chaser bin on display.
Vennings has been importing Cestari chaser bins since 2010, with the Argentinian-manufactured bins becoming well regarded within the Australian farming community.
The Cestari range offers customers a wagon-style chaser bin, with capacities available from 10,000 litres through to 43,000 litres.
Bins can be ordered in colours to match the tractor or harvester being used.
“We mainly import the bins in John Deere green or Case IH red, but other colour options are also available,” Richard Venning said.
Richard and Andrew will be available throughout the field days to discuss customers’ bulk-handling requirements, including self-propelled augers, seed and super units, grain cleaners, chaser bins, chassis bins and other harvest equipment.
