Warrack and Hopetoun face off in tennis action

Round 7 of the Dimboola District Tennis Association kicked off on Friday night with Arkona taking on Rainbow, hoping the rain would hold off long enough for some tennis to be played.

Arkona v Rainbow

The mixed was a tough contest with Rainbow edging out Arkona three sets 33 games to Arkona two sets 20 games.

With only a drizzle of rain happening, the men’s and women’s sections took the court.

In the women’s Rainbow claimed all four sets 36 games to Arkona’s 15 games.

In the men’s there were some close games with Rainbow holding off Arkona to finish with three sets 38 games to Arkona two sets 28 games.

Overall, it was Rainbow with the five match points 10 sets and 107 games to Arkona four sets 63 games.

Jeparit v Antwerp

With some close matches in the mixed section, it was Antwerp that came away with the points, winning four sets for 42 games to Jeparit’s one set 32 games.

In the women’s sections, Antwerp was too strong winning all four sets for 36 games to Jeparit’s 10 games.

In the men’s section the tables turned, with Jeparit too strong for Antwerp, claiming four of five sets for 42 games to Antwerp’s one set 27 games.

Overall, Antwerp won the day with four match points nine sets and 105 games to Jeparit one match point five sets and 84 games.

Dimboola v Brim

With some close matches in the mixed section, it was Dimboola that came away with the points, winning three sets for 33 games to Brim’s one set 26 games.

In the women’s sections, Dimboola was too strong winning all four sets for 36 games to Brim’s 19
games.

In the men’s section Brim proved too strong claiming three sets 39 games to Dimboola’s one set 30 games.

Overall, it was Dimboola coming away with the win and four match points eight sets 99 games to Brim one match point four sets 74 games.
