Held over two weekends at Mooroopna in the Goulburn Valley, the Country Fire Authority Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria State Firefighter Championships drew together both urban and rural teams.

CFA chief officer Jason Heffernan said the event provided "some healthy and humbling competition" and was one of the CFA's "proudest and longest-running traditions".

“The state championships are a great opportunity for our volunteers to not only engage with their peers competitively but to develop life skills, build friendships and support like-minded regional communities,” Mr Heffernan said.

Competing at the senior level of the urban division, Warracknabeal excelled.

Warracknabeal set a new championships record in the B Section Wet Hose Striking One Disc Twice with Removable Back Cap, ahead of Swan Hill, Echuca, Maffra and Kerang, its four representatives completing the challenge in 15.9 seconds.

The brigade collected two more championships in the B Section Hose & Reel Sixes and in the B Section Hose & Ladder, where its team of five finished more than a second clear of Swan Hill.

Warracknabeal's four competitors were placed fourth in the B Section Y Coupling.

A combined Warrack–Horsham pair of Isabella Orszulak and Claire Longstaff was fourth in the Female Y Coupling and third in the Female Marshall.

Kynan Jonasson was placed fifth in the B Section Marshall with a time of 28.51 seconds, narrowly behind Arjai Johnston of Horsham who stopped the clock at 27.44 seconds.

In the individual Female Marshall category, Longstaff, representing both Warracknabeal and Horsham, picked up a fifth placing.

Warracknabeal's success continued in the B Section Pumper & Ladder when its five-person team was third.

Orszulak, running for Warrack–Horsham, was fifth in the Female Hydrant Race.

In the B Section Hydrant & Tanker, the Warracknabeal quartet finished fourth.

Orszulak and Jonasson represented the western side of Victoria in the east-versus-west Female Wet Hose Striking One Disc Twice and Hose & Reel Eights, respectively.

In overall results, Warracknabeal was the bronze medallist behind Melton and Swan Hill in the Wet Aggregate, having finished second to Swan Hill in B Section.

Horsham–Warracknabeal was fourth in the Female Aggregate, having contested all four challenges.

The 2025 state firefighter championships were supported by the Victorian Government.
