The players were well supported by their caddies throughout the week, adding to the strong team spirit within the group.

The women’s team consisting of Ashleigh Hall, Amanda Brownsea, Marg Taylor, Lisa Jakobi, Casey Phelan, Wendy Hewitt, Fleur Finlayson and Annabelle Plowright from Horsham, Warracknabeal, Sheep Hills and Serviceton, along with their caddies, also enjoyed some great golf and teamship over the three days.

The event saw three rounds played before a final playoff round, with the Wimmera men and women producing some consistent and impressive golf.

In the men’s event at Coomealla Golf Club, round one saw the Wimmera team in a nail-biter, winning two matches and squaring another to finish with a draw against East Gippsland, 3.5-all.

In round two, again at Coomealla, the Wimmera side battled hard against the Victorian Golf League to win two matches and square another, with the final result favouring VGL 4.5 to 2.5.

Round three at Mildura Golf Club against Kara Kara saw the team start strongly and they finished just as well, winning all their matches with the final result 7-0 to Wimmera.

Despite a valiant effort, the team just missed a spot in the premiership playoff, falling short by only half a match.

In round four at Red Cliffs Golf Club, the men regrouped and took to the course for the consolation final, playing against Kara Kara once again, where they displayed fine teamwork and competitive spirit.

Their strong performance capped off an excellent week of golf and camaraderie, with the men winning all of their matches once again, the final result of 7-0 securing them third place in division three.

In the women's event, Wimmera played Dalhousie in the first round at Coomealla.

Dalhousie proved too strong for the Wimmera team.

Wendy Hewitt won her match while all the other women battled hard with some losing on the 18th hole, with the overall final result 1-6.

In round two at Coomealla Wimmera played the Victorian Golf League, another very strong competitor.

Ashleigh Hall played some excellent golf to win her match while Annabelle Plowright and Lisa Jakobi were able to square their matches with their consistent golf, the final result for the Wimmera being 2-5.

Overall the women were competitive and played solid golf, losing some close matches.

In round three at the Mildura Golf Club, Wimmera played Kara Kara.

The women played some magnificent golf to win six of their matches and halve the other, with the final score 6.5-0.5.

In the round four consolation final at Redcliff Golf Club, again the women played Kara Kara, and with their great form they proved to strong, this time winning all seven matches with the final result 7-0 to Wimmera, securing them third place in division three.

It was a tremendous effort from the entire Wimmera sides, who not only played quality golf throughout the event but also enjoyed their time on and off the golf courses, representing their clubs and district well.
