Western Highway remains closed after fatal truck crash near Dimboola

The Western Highway remains closed in both directions between Dimboola and Horsham following a fatal incident on January 8, 2026.

Emergency services responded to reports of an eastbound truck overturning on the Western Highway, about 5km east of Dimboola, shortly before 4.30 pm.

The male passenger, who has not yet been formally identified, died at the scene.

The male truck driver was injured and transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The Major Collision Investigation Unit is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and follow directions from emergency services while the investigation and recovery continue.

If you are travelling westbound, there is a diversion at Baillie Street and Kalkee Road.

If you are travelling eastbound, there is a diversion at Borung Highway and Western Highway.
