Wet and wild course challenges

On Wednesday May 7 four brave ladies fronted up to golf.

The wind blew and the wind blew, and on the 6th and 7th holes the rain came down.

Then, thankfully, the rain ceased, although the wind blew and the wind blew, resulting in some fairly frazzled ladies at the end of the day.

The scores were nothing to brag about except for one lady who played just one stroke more than her handicap.

The group played stroke and flag and Helen earned bragging rights again for the week.

If she had dropped her putt on the 18th she would have been spot on, but the recalcitrant ball did not drop so one more hit was needed.

The rest of the field ran out of available strokes on the 17th hole.

The only other news for the day was the trouble had on the 14th/17th holes.

My buggy wanted to go home so headed off unassisted down 17 while I was in the middle of my back swing to go down 14.

A chase ensued, with the errant thing being caught and made to endure those three torturous holes in the 14, 15, 16 loop.

Meanwhile, Fay, who was ahead of me, badly wanted to play 14 again instead of 17.

She was up for a 21-hole competition while I was keen to only play 15.

Who knows: we might rewrite the rules of golf between us.

Memberships are now overdue as the club has started its board events.
