Winter is well and truly here to stay in the Wimmera.

A cold, damp long weekend usually is one met with dread; however, the Man in the Corner did not hear a single person complaining about the consistent rainfall.

From Friday morning through to Sunday evening, most of the Wimmera received a healthy amount of rain.

The Bureau of Meteorology's weather station recorded 18.2mm in Horsham, 17mm in Longerenong and a whopping 38.2mm in Kanagulk.

Outside of Horsham, there were recordings of 34.4mm in Edenhope, 25.2mm in Stawell, 22.4mm in Nhill and 20.2mm in Warracknabeal.

The upside of the rain was a slight increase in temperatures.

Before the rain, Horsham woke up to frosty mornings, with a lowlight of -3.5°C in Horsham on May 5.

Early birds can take solace in knowing it was not as cold as it had ever been, with that record belonging to June 15, 2006, at -6°C.
