Wimmera crime rises

Despite recently released Victorian crime statistics showing a small decrease statewide in the last 12 months, the majority of local government areas in the Wimmera in and around Horsham have recorded crime still on the rise.

The latest Victorian crime statistics have shown a slowdown of overall crime across the state with the crime rate, which factors in population growth, decreasing by 1.9 per cent (8,690.8 offences per 100,000 people). But there are some signs crime in the Wimmera is not declining and police resources locally are being stretched.
