WMEAPA guest speaker
The Wimmera Mallee Environment and Agricultural Protection Association Inc. is excited to welcome a guest speaker to their meeting on Monday, September 29.
Aidan Morrison is a data scientist with qualifications in physics and a diverse professional background that spans academic research, technology start-ups, and corporate consulting.
He led research into Australia’s energy systems, focusing on identifying economically grounded and technically robust pathways to an affordable energy future.
Mr Morrisons's work critically challenges many of the assumptions embedded in current energy policy and modelling, particularly those that overlook full-system costs and operational realities.
As Australia advances its energy transition, he has voiced strong concerns that flawed modelling and unrealistic planning could lead to serious reliability and affordability issues.
Mr Morrison has been particularly outspoken about the deficiencies in AEMO’s Integrated System Plan and the CSIRO’s modelling efforts, arguing they rely on flawed processes and inaccurate assumptions that obscure the lowest-cost pathways.
His advocacy has helped drive a broader push for a more evidence-based and technology-agnostic approach to Australia’s energy planning.
His commentary and research are regularly featured in national media and have informed major policy forums and parliamentary inquiries such as the Senate Economics References Committee’s inquiry into energy.
The meeting will be the last for this year and will be held at the Warracknabeal Community Centre, located at Anzac Park, Warracknabeal, from 7pm.
