WorkSafe on tour with a former Cat

There were 476 claims for injury accepted by WorkSafe in the Western District in the 2023-24 financial year, including close to 70 claims of injury mentally.

Industry ranked, Health Care and Social Assistance recorded claims the most, with 112, followed by Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (59) and Manufacturing (56).

Most common injuries included musculoskeletal system (134), traumatic ligament, muscle or tendon injury (91) and amputations, lacerations and wounds (82).

The most common causes of injuries included body stressing, of which there were 154, followed by falls, slips and trips (120) and being hit by a moving object (88).

Ex-Geelong captain Cameron Ling is in Horsham on Friday October 4 as part of WorkSafe's tour to promote healthy and safe places of work.

"Football demands focus and strategy, but safety is key,” Ling said.

“Staying current on workplace health and safety knowledge through sessions like this is as critical as knowing the next play."

The event is being held at the Golf Club from 7am until 12.30pm.
