Quilters president Lea Crammond said the response was overwhelming and the group had now donated 22 colourful quilts for distribution to patients living in Horsham Rural City or the shires of Hindmarsh, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack.

Mrs Crammond said one patchworker had donated four.

"The group has been so generous and some ladies have made and donated multiple quilts," Mrs Crammond said.

"They are time-consuming to make and quite expensive to produce but each one has been made as a gift of love.

"These quilts will not only provide comfort but also brighten a room and become a lasting memory for the families."

The quilters plan to make the donation of quilts to at-home palliative-care patients an annual event.

"We will endeavor to make this an annual gift, "Mrs Crammond said.

"There’s only so many family members we can provide with a quilt and we won’t stop making them, so it’s a win-win situation really."
