Yarri crime numbers buck Wimmera trend

Despite recently released Victorian crime statistics showing a small statewide decrease in the last 12 months, most local government areas in the Wimmera have recorded rising crime.

The latest Victorian crime statistics have shown a slowdown of overall crime across the state with the crime rate, which factors in population growth, decreasing by 1.9 per cent (8,690.8 offences per 100,000 people). Despite crime rising in surrounding regions around the Wimmera, Yarriambiack Shire has had criminal offences recorded drop by 15 per cent in the 12 months to March.
