New era: Youth Council sworn in

Eleven youth leaders have marked their two-year term with the Horsham Youth Council with a swearing-in ceremony at the Horsham Rural City Council on Monday, August 18.

Eleven young councillors, aged 11–18, have officially begun their two-year term with Horsham Youth Council. The group was sworn-in on Monday, August 18, with CEO Gail Gatt and mayor Ian Ross.

Aged 11 to 18, the community members will represent the municipality's youth, amplifying young people's voices.

Mayor Ian Ross said it was an exciting time for the community.

"The energy, confidence, and dedication shown by our new Youth Councillors speaks volumes about the future leaders in our region,” he said.

“I am proud to witness this group of young people take charge and offer their perspectives on the issues that matter most to them. 

“I look forward to working with them as they help shape the future of our community.”

Cr Ross said the Horsham Youth Council would continue to be instrumental in guiding decisions, shaping opportunities, and influencing community outcomes for the next generation.
