Youth councillors participate in National Young Leaders Day
Five Hindmarsh youth councillors travelled to Melbourne on March 2 for the Halogen National Young Leaders Day at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), where they heard from Australian celebrities.

Australia’s most successful Olympian Emma McKeon and Samoan–Australian Catherine Laga’aia, who is starring in Disney’s upcoming live-action film “Moana”, addressed the young leaders.
Thomas Duncan-Watt, an Australian screen and play writer, and Majak Daw, the first Sudanese Australian Football League player (whose family migrated due to the civil war in Sudan), also shared their stories.
“The National Young Leaders Day was very fun and interactive," youth councillor Lilly said.
"We also got to sing and dance, which I loved.
"Everyone was engaging and I took away many lessons from all the speakers, like get out of your comfort zone and try something new."
After the conference they had the opportunity to visit Government House with their personal tour guide being the Governor herself, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, who spoke about the history of the building.
They also were able to sample produce from the Government House garden including cucamelons, chocolate mint, cherry tomatoes and chillis.
